SPORTS

  • It is an activity requiring physical actions and skills where individuals or teams compete under rules. 

  • It is classified into individual, dual, or team sports. 


INDIVIDUAL SPORT

  • These are played by one participant on each competing side.


FOR EXAMPLE:

DUAL SPORT

  • These are played by two competing pairs.

FACTORS IN PLAYING SPORTS

  • History – the inventor or proponent of the sport, country of origin, development, and improvement in the game.

  • Court Dimension/Venue – where the games are played (indoors, outdoors, or both), size differences between males and females, and safety procedures for the players.

  • Equipment and Gear – proper protective gear, uniforms, and outfits that also involve the safety of players and the officials.

  • Technical and Tactical Skills – Technical skills are the basics of the game, while tactical skills are the strategies to take advantage of the game.

  • Rules of the Game – set of rules on how the game is played, violations, penalties, scoring system, and number of players allowed.

  • Officiating – officials of the game, their duties and responsibilities of calling for violations, penalties, and points, as to regulating a fair game.


TACTICAL SKILLS

  • These may vary depending on the trainer or coach, an athlete’s skill level, or the opposing team’s strengths and weaknesses.

  1. Preparation/Planning

  • Date, time, and duration of training/practice

  • Objectives/goals

  • Equipment needed during training/practice

  1. Training Proper

  • Warm-up/stretching

  • Teaching new skills/practicing previously taught skills
