  • 1861 – Italian unification

  • 476 AD  – fall of the western Roman empire

    • Boy emperor sending stuff to Constantine (right name?)

  • 753 BC – Romulus founding Rome (April 21st)

  • 1453 – fall of Byzantium and the fall of the Roman empire (eastern half)

    • Definite end of the Roman Empire.

    • Fall of Constantinople caused fear of Ottoman expansion. No longer resistance to Muslim invasions. There was still a big presence of Arabs in southern Spain and continental Europe. 

  • 1922 – Mussolini gets in power, the establishment of fascism. Real date. A group of fascists marched on Rome - they were in control of the city.  King has no choice but to give Mussolini the title of Prime Minister. Constituto Albertino.

  • 1945 – liberation of Italy from fascism (the North was liberated later than the South). 

  • 500 AD – start of the Middle Ages

  • 800 AD – Roman Empire returns, making the Holy Roman Empire. Christmas night, the Pope crowns Charlemagne. The Pope takes the Rex crown and places it on the head of Charlemagne, proclaiming him Holy Roman emperor.  Right in Rome. 

  • 1492 – Columbus going to the Americas, Lorenzo Medici dies, and the end of the Arab presence in Europe. Ferdinand and Isabella get married, making the modern kingdom of Spain. No more Islam in Spain.

    • the start of the Renaissance.  Beginning of modern history. 

    • ONLY NEED TO MENTION ONE IMPORTANT THING

313 – Constantine makes Christianity legal in the Roman Empire using the Edict of Milan.  Didn’t make Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire, it remained multi-religious, however it did recognize Christianity as one of the religions that could be practiced in the Empire without any prosecution.
