Mitosis
Chromosomes: 1 large piece of DNA
Mitosis: Steps of dividing DNA
Chromatin: Loosley coiled DNA, Good for reading instructions
Chromatid: Tightly coiled DNA, Good for transport
Centriole: Connects spindle fibers
Prophase:
1st step of mitosis
Nuclear Membrane disappears
Nucleolus disappears
Centrioles begin to move in opposite directions
Cytoskeleton disappears
Spindle Fivers grow out of centrioles and centromeres
Metaphase:
Centrioles at opposite parts
Sister chromatids are lined up at the equator
Spindle fibers attach chromosomes to both poles
Anaphase:
Centromere breaks
Sister chromatids move toward opposite parts (forms βVβ)
Telophase:
The nuclear membrane and Nucleus reappear
Spindle Fibers β Cytoskeleton
Chromatid β Chromatin
Cytokinesis:
Divide cytoplasm and organelles
Cytoskeleton chokes the cells in half
Creates identical daughter cells in interphase
