Starting – stand to the side until grinding wheel reaches full speed
Tool rest and spark breaker – set a maximum of 1/16” from grinding wheel face, make no adjustments while wheel is turning
Eyes – Always wear eye protection when using a grinder
Pressure – feed the work piece into the wheel slowly, never shove it
Non-ferrous materials – do not grind on a pedestal grinder
Gloves – don’t wear them
Respirator – wear when dusty conditions occur
Excessive vibration – turn off machine, move out of line of grinding wheel until it stops
Face of grinding wheel – must be flat and not glazed or loaded, dress if necessary
Side of wheel – do not grind on it
Heat – do not touch hot parts, keep them cool by quenching in water
Guards – never use the grinder with guards removed
Horseplay – never play around machinery
