A state of physical/mental alertness thats produced by external stressors than an individual finds challening to deal with.

Stressor

An object or event that stars alertness

Stress response

A physiological or psychological reaction to the stressor or stress.

Acute stress

Its the state of brief but intense physiological alertness because of a stressor that normally has no negative effects on our health and wellbeing.

Chronic stress

Its the state of prolonged physiological alertness in response to an annoying stressor that negatively affects our health and wellbeing

Eustress

A positive state of alertness that energises and helps our body to perform and its best.

Distress

A negative state of alertness that drains our energy and reduces our ability to perform well.

Cortisol

Its a hormone produced by the adrenal glands that are located above our kidneys, its usually called the stress hormone as it helps our bodies respond to stress and create a state of balance in our bodily functions to calm us down.
