Pure Substance

A form of matter that is made up of one substance, a constant chemical composition and can’t be physically separated.

Elements

Substances that are only made up of one type of atom

The names of elements are represented by chemical symbols

Examples: Natrium, Calcium, Silicon, Helium

Compound

Substances that are made up of two or more chemicals that are chemically bonded

Examples: Sodium Chloride, Ammonia, Sodium Bicarbonate, Dihydrogen Monoxide, Sulfuric Acid

Mixtures

A form of matter that is made up of 2 or more substances, doesnt have a constant chemical composition and cannot be chemically seperated

Homogenous Mixtures

Substances that are made up of two or more substances that are uniformly mixed

Example: milk, tea, saltwater

Heterogenous Mixture

Solutions that are made up of two or more substances that are not uniformly mixed

Example: cereal and milk, oil and water, pizza
