  • Degree Requirement: Students cannot earn a degree in Theatre without passing Stagecraft.

Grading Breakdown

  • Production Crew (60 hours required): 60%

  • Sewing and Styling Projects: 20%

    • Hand Sewing Sampler: 5%

    • Machine Sewing Sampler: 5%

    • Styling Project: 10%

  • Tests / Quizzes / Written Responses: 15%

    • Romeo and Juliet 2-Page Response Paper: 5%

    • Run Book: 5%

    • Godspell 2-Page Response Paper: 5%

  • Attendance, In-Class Participation & Task Completion: 5%

Numerical and Alphabet Grade Scale

Attendance, Late Work & Penalty Policies

  • Late Submissions: 10 points deducted per day; assignments past 1 week late will not be accepted.

  • Tests & Quizzes: Cannot be made up.

  • Final Projects: Will not be accepted late under any circumstances; physical attendance is required to present.

  • Crew Work Call Absences: Docked 12\frac{1}{2} a letter grade level for every hour absent.

  • Mandatory Crew Events (Intimacy Training, Tech-Talk, Run-Through): Missing results in a 50-point deduction from the final grade.

  • Crew Attire Policy: Mandatory all-black professional, comfortable attire (shirt, pants, shoes) for all show run calls. Failure to comply results in a 10-point final grade deduction per instance.

  • Class Attendance & Lateness:

    • Two excused absences permitted per course (including Wellness Days) without academic penalty.

    • Additional absences lower the final grade by two levels (e.g., B+ becomes B-).

    • Lateness occurs up to 10 minutes past start time; arrival after 15 minutes counts as an absence. 2 instances of lateness equal 1 absence.

  • Make-Up Hours:

    • Allowed only with pre-approval from the professor for extreme emergencies or illness.

    • Maximum of 10 hours can be made up outside of tech and show run.

    • All make-up hours must be completed by December 4th.

Costume Space Rules

  • Supervision: No unsupervised shop access (including dye room, craft space, and stock).

  • Food & Drink: No food or drink permitted; closed water containers only.

  • Audio: Personal music permitted with headphones only (prohibited during class time).

  • Safety & Maintenance:

    • Always check and unplug irons before leaving.

    • Dust off equipment and sewing machines after every use.

    • Sweep the floor and clean up workspace after completion.

    • Return all materials and items to their proper places.

  • Oct 2–7: Romeo and Juliet Tech

  • Oct 6: Romeo and Juliet Response Paper DUE

  • Oct 8–11: Romeo and Juliet Performances

  • Oct 20: Run Book DUE

  • Oct 27: Machine Sewing Sampler DUE; Godspell Tech-Talk, Crew Training, & Run-Through (6:30PM–11:00PM, Mandatory for crew)

  • Nov 3: Godspell Response Paper DUE

  • Nov 6–11: Godspell Tech

  • Nov 12–15: Godspell Performances

  • Nov 30–Dec 12: Dance Mainstage
