Weather

Weather - refers to the conditions of the atmosphere at a particular place at a given time.

Weather can vary greatly from one day to the next and even within the same day.

Climate - is the average weather in a certaun place over a longer period.

The Philippines experience a tropical maritime climate.

which means us hot and humid

meteorology is the study f the atmosphere

Types of weather

  • Sunny day

  • Cloudy day

  • Rainy day

  • Windy day

  • Stormy day

These determine our choices o what clothes to wear when to travel and wjat outdoor activities to do for the next day or the next week

Weather in the Philippines is monitored by PAGASA

Sunny - Less thsn half th esky has clouds.

Fine - No rain or no clouds

Windy - Winds expected to blwow at 18 km/h or even faster

Rainy Weather - Rain over the area for the whole day

Rain Shower- Intermittent and scattered rain; the rain stops and starts in between short periods

Thunderstorm - A storm produced by cumulonimbus clouds and accompanied by lighting, thunder, gusty winds, and heavy rain.

Weather components

  • Air temperature - asure of the hotnessor coldness of the atmosphere.

  • Thermometer - measure the air temperature

  • Air pressure - weight of the air pressing down on the surface of Earth

  • Barometer - used to measure air pressure

  • Humidity - amount of water vapor in the atmosphere

  • Psychometer - measure humidity

  • Wind - moving air

  • Anemometer - measure the speed of the wind

  • Wind vane - show the direction of thee wind

  • Cloud - made up of tiny water droplets floating in the atmosphere.

  • Cloudliness - sed to describe the weather in terms of cloudliness

  • Precipitation - any moisture that falls from the air to the ground

Weather and Climate

  • Weather refers to the atmospheric conditions at a specific place and time, varying from day to day.

  • Climate is the average weather over a longer period.

  • The Philippines has a tropical maritime climate, characterized by hot and humid conditions.

Types of Weather

  • Sunny Day: Less than half the sky is covered with clouds.

  • Cloudy Day: More than half the sky is covered with clouds.

  • Rainy Day: Continuous rain is expected throughout the day.

  • Windy Day: Winds are forecasted to blow at 18 km/h or faster.

  • Stormy Day: Thunderstorms may occur, often with heavy rain and gusty winds.

Monitoring Weather

  • In the Philippines, weather is monitored by PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration).

Components of Weather

  • Air Temperature: Measured using a thermometer.

  • Air Pressure: Weight of air, measured with a barometer.

  • Humidity: Amount of water vapor in the air, measured using a psychrometer.

  • Wind: Moving air, measured for speed with an anemometer and direction with a wind vane.

  • Clouds: Tiny water droplets visible in the atmosphere, indicating weather conditions.

  • Precipitation: Any moisture falling from the air to the ground.
