Overview of Project Guidelines

  • Project Theme: Analyze Tesla's business environment concerning supply and demand.

  • Focus Areas:

    • Understand the drop-off in demand, particularly in the German market, and its implications for Tesla's labor demand.

    • Assess if Tesla needs to double down or reduce labor demand based on market conditions.

  • Due Date: April 14 by 12 PM

Project Requirements

  • Each team must pick three themes studied in class to analyze.

  • Team Collaboration:

    • Only one person needs to submit the project for the entire team.

    • Upload submission to the assignments tab on Canvas.

  • Written Analysis:

    • Length: Four pages

    • Structure:

      • Introduction of the firm (Tesla)

      • Analysis of three selected themes with subheaders

      • Short conclusion

    • Content:

      • Full sentences with explanations, graphs, and analysis

      • Include a principal-agent problem, if applicable.

  • Slide Submission:

    • Maximum of 14 slides

    • Suggested breakdown:

      • 2 slides on firm background

      • 1 slide for each theme

    • Content should address the significance of each theme and relevant course economics.

      • Incorporate written descriptions, bullet points, and graphs for clarity.

  • Use of Literature:

    • Reference at least one economics paper from class or find a relevant external paper.

Presentation Structure

  • Team Presentations: Each team will present their findings over the last three classes.

  • Presentation Duration: 10 minutes, followed by Q&A (5 minutes)

  • Peer Assessment:

    • Team members will evaluate each other’s contributions to ensure accountability.
