Reasons for European interest in Africa

The wanted raw materials such as ivory , animal skins , coper , gold , rubber , cotton and Tinas Africa was a source of raw materials .

They needed a market to sell their goods

For recognition , having colonies made European countries powerfull and successful.

Missionaries wanted to spread Christianity

For adventure, some came to Africa to see people , animals and physical features .
