Geography Homework Flashcards

How it works.

  • Paper 1 - Our Natural World - 1hr 15 - 35%

  • Paper 2 - People & Society - 1hr 15 - 35%

  • Exploration skills - 30%

Lesson 1&2 - Urban Futures

In Class we covered how rates of urban growth vary around the world. We wrote a GSE about how the percentage of urbanisation has Generally increased between 1950 and 2050. Specifically africa saw the biggest increase and an Exception was Oceania. We found a reason for the general trend to be that these continets are going through an industrial revolution scenario. We then moved onto Megacities and Worldcities. Four factors that lead to the growth of megacities are natural population increase, migration, costal location and economic development. We then went through a proportional symbol map. Continuing from this we read through 10 characteristics Worldcities have. 3 important characteristics were TNC’s, reigonal importance and cultural oppurtunities. We finally wrote a GSE on the locations of Worldcities.

Lessons 3 & 4/5 - Rural to Urban migraton

In lesson 3 we covered

  • Rural to Urban migration

  • Internal Growth

  • Youthful Population

  • Push Factors

  • Pull Factors

we then went through 20 statements and decided if they were push or pull factors. We also made a mind map on why internal growth rates are so high in LIDC.

In lesson 3/4 we covered consequences of Rural to Urban migration and did a GSE. We briefly covered Nairobi ( need to study). We then made a proportional map on the 10 largest slums and wrote explanations linked to slum consequences. We finally categorised 10 statements into social, economic or environmental groups.
