Fibers- embedded in the extracellular matrix
Collagen fiber- strong & flexible, in cartilage and bone, surrounded by water molecules that gives it a cushion effect, occur in parallel bundles
-Collagen is the most abundant protein.
Elastic protein- smaller than collagen, joined together by fibrous network, able to go back to its original shape,
Reticular fiber- collagen arrangement in bundle of glycoprotein, provides supports in walls.
Reticular is produced by FIBER. Is thinner than collagen
Forms stroma
Ex. Nerve fiber, adipose tissue,
Connective tissue
Embryonic connective tissue- present in fetus or embryo
Mature connective tissue- present at birth
Connective Tissue- mature, flexible, fiber,
Loose connective tissue- loosely arranged ex. Areolar, adipose, reticular.
Dense connective tissue- contains more fiber are thicker, densed tissue
Supporting connective tissue- protect soft tissue
Liquid connective tissue- extracellular matrix liquid
Embryonic connective tissue-
-Mesenchyme – in embryo- developed from fertilization through the first two months
-Mucoid – in fetus developed through the 3th month
Cartilage- collagen fiber, chondroitin sulfate- is responsible for cartilage resilience , has few cells and large quanities of extracellular matrix, no nerves or blood vessels or blood supply- Antiangiogenesis prevents it, which heals poorly. Could be used for cancer treatment.
-Chondrocyte- mature cartilage occurs in single or group within spaces Cartilage lacuane. - Perichondrium- dense irregular tissue
-Perichondrium- surrounds the surface of most cartilage and contains blood vessels and nerve.
Tissues: Hyaline cartilage, fibrous cartilage, elastic cartilage
Interstitial growth- cartilages increase rapidly in size due to division
Appositional growth- growth of outer surface, the inner cellular of perichondrium differentiate into chondroblast that becomes chondrocyte
Bone tissue: store calcium & phosphorus house red bone marrow and produce blood cell and osseous.
-periosteum- red and yellow marrow
-endosteum- membrane that lines the space within bone stores yellow membrane
Tissue: compact or spongy depending on extracellular and cells are organized
-Osteon:
Bone lamellae- are concentric rings of EM that consist of mineral salts- tensile strength, responsible for the compact nature
Bone lacuae- spaces within bone cell called osteocyte.
Bone canaliculi- network of minute canals containing the processes of osteocyte. Provides routes for nutrient to reach osteocytes
Osteonics canal- contains blood vessels and nerves.
Spongy bone: lacks osteons instead consists of columns of bone called bone trabeculae
Liquid Connective Tissue
Blood- one of the liquids, has liquid extracellular matrix called blood plasma formed elements.
Blood Plasma- is pale yellow fluid consist mostly of water and substance- nutrients, water ,enzymes, proteins, and hormones
Forced elements- red blood cells (erythrocytes) , white blood cell (leukocyte), platelets( Thrombocytes)
Lymph Plasma- is the liquid that flows in lymphatic vessels,
