1. Be prepared to work when you arrive at the laboratory. Familiarize yourself with the lab procedures before beginning the lab.
- Carefully follow all oral and written instructions. Preform only those activities assigned by your teacher. Never do anything in the laboratory that is not called for in the lab procedure or by your teacher.
- Notify your teacher if you have any medical problems that might be affected by any lab work, such as allergies or asthma.
- Never work in the laboratory without supervision.
- Never eat or drink in the laboratory

- Wear latex gloves when handling concentrated acids and bases.
- When mixing an acid and water, always add the acid to the water
- Carry glass tubing, especially long pieces, in a vertical position to prevent breakage and stabbing anyone.
- Always wear heavy gloves when inserting a piece of glassware such as tubing or a thermometer, into a stopper. Before inserting lubricate glass with water/glycerin.
- Use twisting motion with removing/inserting glassware --Never apply force --- Becomes stuck? Ask teacher
- No contact lens in lab / use glasses if can
