Stairway Number 2 Location

  • Stairway Number 2's location is highlighted on the key plan.
  • Plans exist for every level of the stairs as they ascend the building:
    • Parking 1 Level
    • Parking 2 Level
    • Parking 3 Level
    • Hotel Level 1
    • Hotel Level 2
    • Hotel Level 3
    • Hotel Level 4

Stair Sections

  • A stair section cuts through the left-hand side of the stair drawings.
  • There are seven enlarged stair plans.
  • These plans are cut 4.5 feet above the respective floor level. For example:
    • The Parking 1 image is cut 4.5 feet above the Parking 1 level.
    • The Parking 2 image is cut 4.5 feet above the Parking 2 level, and so on.

Parking 1 Level Details

  • Structural column grid lines are visible.
  • The interior dimension is 10 foot 6 inches.
  • Dimensions are provided from column grid to column grid.
  • There is a reference to the stair section.
  • Notes are included on the plans.
  • The finished floor elevation is indicated on the concrete pad.
  • A door leads outside; individuals descending the stairs must push the door open to exit.
  • Items are listed in the legend.

Parking 2 Level Details

  • Handrails are visible.
  • The interior dimensions and column-to-column dimensions remain consistent.
  • The top of the stair is dimensioned relative to the structural grid.
  • The length of the stairs is shown.
  • There are 7 treads, each 11 inches long.

Hotel Level 1 Details

  • Similar information is provided, including finished floor heights.
  • Wall types surrounding the stairway have changed: masonry on one side and metal walls with insulation on the other.
  • Dimensioning and material call-outs are shown.

Hotel Level 2 Details

  • Individuals entering the stairway push the door open to enter and then proceed down.
  • A break line is present, indicating the continuation of the stairway downwards.

Hotel Level 4 Details

  • A guardrail caps at one end and descends.
  • The width of the stairs is equal to the column grid spacing.

Stair Section Details

  • The elevation at the base of the stairs is designated as 0 feet 0 inches.
  • Elevations are relative to this zero point.
  • Elevations here relate to sea level and can be found on page A708 image 3. This page also describes the handrails.
  • The handrail extends beyond the end of the stairs, which is a code requirement.
  • Balconies are visible in the distance.
  • A detail illustrates what a stair step looks like.
  • There is a section through the roof.
