3.2 - CompTIA A+ Core 2

Application fails to launch

  • Fix for app not launching: Restart the phone, force stop/restart the app, and update the app.

Application fails to close/crashes

  • App hangs: Occurs when an application is unresponsive, although other apps can still work.

  • App crashes: This occurs when an application abruptly stops functioning, often leading to a sudden return to the home screen and/or an error message.

  • Fix for application hangs/crashes: Restart the device, delete or reinstall the app (don’t delete user data), and update the app.

Application fails to update

  • Fix for application update failures: Restart the device and check the Store to manually upgrade.

Application fails to install

  • Fix for application installation failures: Check for a proper Internet connection and ensure there is enough storage space available on the device. Check if your account (Google Play Store, App Store) has a valid payment method and relevant MDM policies that prevent installation.

Slow to respond

OS fails to update

  • Fix for failed OS updates: Check/make storage available (delete unused documents/apps). Check wireless/Wi-Fi connectivity, and restart the device.

Battery life issues

  • Common causes for battery life issues: Poor signal reception - the phone constantly searches for a signal, draining battery. Also, an aging battery can deplete quickly.

  • Fixes for battery life issues: Disable unnecessary features (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, location services) when not in use. Check application battery usage, and replace the battery if necessary.

Random reboots

  • Fixes for random reboots: Check/update the OS and app versions, perform a hardware check, and contact technical support for help options.

Connectivity issues

Intermittent connectivity

  • Fix for intermittent connectivity: Move closer to a wireless access point, or try a different WAP.

Bluetooth

  • Fixes for Bluetooth connectivity issues: Check Bluetooth is enabled, check the Bluetooth device is paired, and reset to restart the Bluetooth subsystem.

Wi-Fi

  • Fixes for Wi-Fi connectivity issues: Check Wi-Fi is enabled, check if the wireless PSK entered is correct, and reset to restart the Wi-Fi subsystem.

Near-field communications (NFC)

  • Fixes for NFC connectivity issues: Check if the device is in range of the NFC-enabled device, ensure that NFC is enabled on both devices, and remove any obstacles that may interfere with the communication. If payment-related, remove the card and add the card again.

AirDrop

  • Fixes for AirDrop connectivity issues: Move the two devices <30 feet. Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and check AirDrop discovery options to enable discoverability (“Allow me to be discovered by”).

Screen does not autorotate

  • Fixes for no screen autorotation: Disable rotation lock, restart the application, restart the device, or contact device support (may be a sensor issue).
