Door Identification and Door Schedules

  • Each door is assigned a letter, and images of the doors are provided for reference.
  • These letters, or door marks, are found within the door schedule.

Components of a Door Legend

The door legend contains information such as:

  • Room number
  • Icon representing the door on the floor plan
  • Room name
  • Door type (linking to a specific door image)
  • Fire rating
  • Width (w)
  • Height (h)
  • Material
  • Head and jamb details; for windows, a sill detail would also be included

Example Door Analysis: Stair 1

  • Located in Stair 1.
  • Door type: A1.
  • Fire rating: 1.5 hours, indicating it's in a path of egress.
  • Egress corridors typically require a one-hour fire rating; this door exceeds the requirement.
  • Width and height values are scheduled.
  • Material: Wood.
  • Frame: Hollow metal.
  • Details for the head (top) and jamb (side) are provided elsewhere in the drawing set.
  • Glass panel present.
  • Hardware set number provided, which specifies doorknobs and hinges, detailed in a separate hardware set drawing or specification.

  • Mark/Tag references the drawing.
  • Located in Room 301, the knockdown storage area.
  • Door type: A1.
  • Fire rating: 20 minutes.
