What is Ratification?
Ratification is when something is finalized and official, like the DOI.
Articles of Confederation:
Why did it fail?
It was a poorly structured group, they had no support and little respect from the people. They lacked authority and have financial issues.
Creation of the Constitution:
The constitution was created by James Madison, also known as the “Father of the Constitution”
It was ratified on September 17, 1787
Federalist vs. Anti-Federalist:
Federalist wanted strong central government and supported the U.S. constitution
Anti-federalist preferred more power for individual states and were worried the constitution might take away individual rights.
New Jersey Plan vs. Virginia Plan:
The New Jersey Plan suggested a single-chamber legislature
The Virginia Plan suggested a two-chamber legislature

The Bill of rights were introduced by James Madison on June 8th, 1789
On August 24th, the house passed 17 amendments

An amendment is a change or addition made to a law, document, or constitution to improve it.
Federalist Papers:
Why are they so important?
They help explain and convince people why the constitution was a good idea.
