The process by which people’s lifestyle’s are spread over global networks

Environmental globalization

The ways in which countries around the world interact with the environment and how this affects the places on the globe

Economic Globalization

The process of expanding the world trading networks

Political Globalization

The process by which political decisions and actions are becoming increasingly international

Cultural Diversity 

A variety of human cultures in a specific region or in the world as a whole ex. Anime, kpop

Universalization of popular culture

The spread of one popular culture (trends, customs, practices) or monoculture around the world

Transnational corporations

A company that is in multiple countries and have large amounts  revenue

Media transnational corporations

Global companies that produce much of the popular culture we engage in ex. Tiktok, tv show companies, music, film companies

Hybridization 

The mixing of identities and cultures in new and different ways

Homogenization 

A trend toward uniformity, s with the world popular culture as a result of globalization

Assimilation 

The absorption of a minority group by a dominant group

Marginalization 

When there’s a group that is “left out” of society and have no political, social, or economical status ex. Lgbtq, POC, women

Accommodation 

An inclusive approach that allows religious or ethnic groups maintain their distinctive

Integration

The incorporation of diverse minority groups into mainstream society. (the minority being brought into the mainstream)

Acculturation 

Change as a result of contract with other cultural groups

Monoculture

A culture that is the same in many different places (think about bengali, pakistan, and indian cultures like shalwar kameez, shari, butter chicken)

Cultural revitalization 

The process of affirming and promoting individual and collective cultural identity. Seen as an opportunity to celebrate identity by reviving traditions and customs or promoting language

Affirmation of identity 

Resisting the urge to blend in with the crowd and acknowledging/standing up for who you are
