Artwork No.1:  The Port of Ezumi in Izumo (The Port of Ezumi in Izumo by Seiju Omoda )

  1. In this artwork I can see many houses that could possibly make a village. Those houses are surrounded by many tall mountains and a vast sea or lake. The weather seems to be dark and cloudy judging from the color of the clouds and sky.

  1. I really liked the way this artwork looked because it seems like a very peaceful place to live in and it looks very natural. I think I had this reaction because I enjoy looking at pieces of scenery and this artwork had reminded me of a peaceful and quiet place to live in. I think that based on your mood, you would view this area differently. For example, if you felt sad and unmotivated, I think you view this village as a lonely and dark place(you would notice how the sky is so dark). If you are happy, then you might view this place as a nice to place to visit.

  1. My opinion on the artwork does change the more I look at because you notice more details that you wouldn’t have been able to notice when you only glance at the artwork. For example, when I first looked at the artwork, I didn't notice the clouds or dark sky. I also didn’t notice the trees on the mountains.

  1. The lines in this artwork are straight and defined in some areas, especially the lines that create the houses.  The lines that make up the hill that is closer to the houses are squiggly unlike the mountains that are on the other side of the mountain, those lines are straight and not very defined.

  1. The colors that are present in this artwork include light and dark grey, navy blue, light and dark green, orangish red, turquoise, and some black. All the colors in this artwork are lightly tinted in yellow. The green on the mountains, the red and blue on the roofs, the grey of the clouds and sky all have a slight tint of yellow.

Artwork No.2: Still Life (Still Life by K.H. Ara)

  1. In this artwork I can see everyday objects such as chairs, fruits, a table and a rug. I think the highlight point or what that the artist wants us to notice is the fruits on the chairs. I think the title of this artwork is still life because the fruits are life, that is still as in it doesn’t move, but it is still life as in it was always and it still is.

  1. My first reaction to this artwork was a little bit confused because it took me some time to understand that the artwork was portraying fruits on a chair. I think I had this reaction because the lines in this artwork are not as defined.

  1. My opinion on this artwork didn’t really change the more I looked at it, but I did notice the objects a little bit more and understood more about what they were. Overall, my opinion on this artwork didn’t change much.

  1. The lines in this artwork are a lot more different from the former one because these lines aren’t very defined, making it slightly harder to identify the objects. There are many straight lines creating rectangles behind the chairs and many curvy lines forming the chairs and the objects on the chairs.

  1. There are a variety of colors in this artwork such as dark and bright red, indigo, green, brown, yellow and black. These colors also have a slight tint of yellow.
