Aspects of communication:

Verbal Linguistics: used words written or oral. It is a communication where message is transmitted verbally.

Non- verbal: used signals, actions, symbols, and gestures, signs.

Non-linguistic elements: not relying on speeches ( no speech at all )

7 categories of non-linguistic

1\.Kinesics: language of body, usage of body movement.

2\. Proxemics: language of space/ spatial. There's a gap or boundaries.

3\. Chronemics: language if time. It varies through culture/ region.

4\. Haptics: language of touch.

\
Types:

1\. Functional-professional touch: medical examination, physical therapy, sports coach, music teacher.

2\. Social-polite touch: handshake

\
3\. Friendship-warmth touch: Hug

\
4\. Love intimacy touch: kiss between family members, or romantic partners.

\
5\. Sexual-Arousal: sexual caressing or intercourse.

6\. Artifactual: language of objects

7\. Physical appearance: According to what people see when they first set their eyes on you.

Paralinguistic:

Paralinguistic communicationā€: has been defined as ā€œnot WHAT you say, but THE WAY you say it.ā€

ex; Body language, gestures, facial expressions, tone and pitch of voice.

Pitch: the relative highness or lowness of a tone as perceived by the ear,

Tempo: pace/ measure of the number of speech units of a given type produced within a given amount of time.

Junctures: indicator (pause) "emphasis". is the manner of moving (transition) between two successive syllables in speech.

Metalinguistic: knowledge about the language. When language is used to talk about language itself (code).
