Main concepts to remember from content area 1
Domain 1:Data based decison making
The problem-solving Framework model
framework always happen in this order: student, program, school or system
Identify the problem and collect the needed data
plan and implement an intervention based on the data
monitor fidelity of the intervention through data collection
Adjust levels of intervention based on ongoing data collection
determine the overall effectiveness of the intervention on positive student outcomes
plan individual instruction and a strategic long-term educational plan
questions for the flash cards: what are the steps in the problem-solving framework, what is the order of the problem solving framework
/
Universal screening is great to identify tier two interventions or strengthening tier one (academically or social-emotional)
broad purpose- determine whether accommodations are needed at the universal level in the core curriculum, instruction, or general education
narrow purpose- decision about additional or intensive instruction for those specific students who may require instructional support beyond a broad level
pro: cost-effective and easy to administer
Cons: can be biased (misclassifies students)
Least dangerous Assumption: It is best practice to provide additional support to students with a false positive rather than not supporting them
Examples of Universal screening: CBM, fluency indicator, cognitive abilities, signs of suicidal programs
Questions for flash cards: Screener definition, What are the two types of universal screening? What are some common universal screeners. Add some true or false about biases and false positives
social determinants of mental health,
race/ethnicity, immigrant status, gender identity, socioeconomic status, educational attainment, anxiety about living conditions, and social support
Three main social determinants: freedom from discrimination and violence, social inclusion, and access to economic resources
should be provided before the screener to triangulate data and avoid biases from the screener
Question for the flashcards: social determinates defintion, what are three main social determinats, true or false of what counts as a social determinant, when should social determinants be mentioned and why?
RTI process and progress monitoring
Response to intervention (RTI)
process is implemented when the data collected on the student indicates that the student is struggling academically or behaviorally
RTI Process
collect baseline performance data in students’ specific areas of concern
form a plan that includes who will implement the intervention, for what length of time, what data will be gathered, and what frequency to continue monitoring student progress
Establish an aim line based on the goal for the student. (indicate how much progress should or can be expected in a given amount of time)
Employ a research-based intervention with fidelity
Administer and record systematic probes that measure the stundents ongoing progress towards the aim line
After data collection and probes, reconvene with the RTI team to assess intervention effectiveness.
Progress monitoring
can be done in the general education classroom to observe which students may need additional support or advancement
for IEP(individual education programs) and focuses on students’ progress on their goals
Academic, social, emotional, and behavioral progress
Formative assessment
Summative assessment
Standardized assessment
fideltity
validity
relaibility
specialized assessment and assessment procedure

Domain 2: consultation and collaboration
based on building relationships, client-focused, and culturally aware
apply problem solving model to the consultation
Consultation requires leadership
Collaboration requires a school leadership skills
Intragency collaboration requires with other systems for prevention, early intervention, and systems of care.
