Dictatorship:

• Power held by one person or party

• No free elections

• E.g. Nazi Germany under Hitler – censorship, secret police, one-party rule

Democracy:

• Citizens choose leaders through free elections

• Right to protest, freedom of speech

• E.g. Britain today or post-1918 elections
