A: it gives us the context that the Old Testament was written in so that we have a deeper understanding of the meaning in scripture. It also demonstrates that people has and still does interact with people in history and culture, therefore giving it value.

Q:What is exegesis and hermeneutics?

A: Exegesis is determining what the text meant in the original context , Hermeneutics is applying the text to what it might mean today.

Q:What is Incarnational Inspiration and the idea of the “Cultural River”?

A: Scripture is both fully God and fully man, to make it more divine. It is an analogy.

Q:What isn’t the Old Testament? What is the Old Testament? What is its purpose?

A: The Old Testament isn’t a book of rules, a text book, a book about hero’s it is a story of that tells us how god sacrificed everything to rescue us and the world. It is a library of books that tell one unified story over thousands of years with different authors and genres. It is useful to teaching, rebuking and training in righteousness.

Q: What are the steps of biblical interpretation?

A: To determine the meaning in the original context, think about what is similar or different to our culture now, and what principles can be applied today.

Q:What is the theological importance for us today of God writing the Bible by actual humans to actual humans within a particular time and culture?

A: If God was willing to work through people and impact in history and culture, then God is interested to work through

history and culture now and through us. God doesn’t hate culture, but is willing to be understood in and through it.

Creation:

Q: What is the purpose of the creation account in Genesis 1?

A: It is to show that creation is orderly and good formed by God with love for humans to cultivate and partner with him.

Q:What does image of God refer to in Genesis 1?

A: The image of God refers to the function of humans, to partner with God to inherit the cultivation of the world.

Q:Know the difference between the words Elohim and Yahweh? A:Yahweh is the personal name for God, Elohim is generic and can refer to multiple gods But when used as a singular ver it refers to our God.
