In my opinion, advertisements have a huge influence on children. Advertising campaigns are designed to be very persuasive and stimulate people to buy things. They are not only effective against adults but aslo more effective against children. This is because children have not developed the rational skills which allow adults to resist the subliminal influence of advertisements. Therefore, it is very easy for children to be convinced by adverts into wanting the products that they sell.
Yes, I think advertising should be banned to aim specifically at kids. Television commercials aimed at children can have a detrimental impact, particularly on the relationship between parents and their children. Many children are easily manipulated to want things they see in advertisements. This, in turn, may cause conflicts between parents and children if parents deny their children of something they want. Secondly, advertising targeted at children can have negative effects on their health. For example, many fast food and junk food companies these days design eye-catching adverts, make their products appear to be healthy and appealing. Unfortunately, most children do not understand the concept of advertising and are easily persuaded to purchase these unhealthy foods. As a consequence, they can face many serious health issues, such as diabetes and obesity.
