  • Son of God: Refers to Jesus' divine authority and relationship with God, emphasized during his baptism (1:11) and Transfiguration (9:7).

  • Messiah: Indicates Jesus as the anointed one fulfilling Old Testament prophecies, affirming the hope of salvation through his miracles and resurrection.

  • Son of Man: Highlights Jesus' human nature and connects him to humanity while reflecting his divine authority from the Book of Daniel.

  • Son of David: Establishes Jesus' lineage as the Messiah, fulfilling prophecies that he would come from David's line, establishing him as King.

  • Saviour: Signifies Jesus’ mission of delivering humanity from sin and spiritual death through his sacrificial death and resurrection.

Messianic Secret

Jesus often maintained the secrecy of his Messianic identity to:

  1. Avoid premature conflict with authorities.

  2. Correct misconceptions about his role as a spiritual savior rather than a political liberator.

  3. Focus on his mission of spiritual transformation.

  4. Ensure the timing of his full revelation aligned with prophecy, particularly concerning his death and resurrection.

The title 'Saviour' encapsulates his mission of atoning for sins, promising redemption and reconciliation with God, central to Christian belief.
