Muscle Notes

  1. The three main muscle tissues are cardiac skeletal and smooth muscle

  2. Flexion- decrease angle by bringing two body parts together (bicep curl

  3. Extension- extension makes it largers, oving two body parts father away from eachother (tricep extension)

  4. Cardiac Muscle- specialized type of muscle tissue that forms the heart

  5. Skeletal muscles- muscles connected to bones

  6. Smooth muscle- covers wall of internal organs (liver)

  7. What are the three parts of the muscle? Body - main portion, Origin- the fixed attachment, Insertion- point of attachment to part of body moved by this muscle.

  8. Fast Twitch- provides bigger and more powerful focus, but for shorter durations and quick fatigue.

  9. Slow Twitch- fatigue resistant, and focused on sustained smaller movements.

  10. What are the major muscles in the front? Biceps, Abdominals, pectorals, obliques.

  11. Four quad muscles: Rectus Femoris, Vastus Intermedialus, Vastus lateralis, Vastus medialis. Xtra Credit

  12. What are the major muscles in the back? Trapezius, Deltoid, Triceps, Latissimus Dorsi, Gluteus Maximus, Hamstrings, Gastrocnemius,

  13.  Three Hamstring muscles: Semimembranosus, Semitendinosus, Bicep femoris

  14. Two calf muscles: Lateral head, Medial head

  15. Latissimus dorsi –_Forms width of back_, it causes arm extension.

  16. Trapezius –_On top of back_ . It moves the scapula bone, and it looks kind of whack.

  17. Deltoid – Muscles found on shoulder

  18. Biceps - On front of arm When it flexes the elbow,

  19. Triceps – causes forearm extension

  20. Pectoral – Make up chestArm flexion and adduction is what they do best.

  21. Abdomal – flexes spine

  22. Obliques (internal/external) – sides of abs. They help rotate the trunk so you can turn the other cheek.

  23. gluteus maximus – The gluteus maximus makes up your booty.

  24. Rectus femoris- On front of thigh  it extends the knee so you can jump really high.

  25. Hamstrings: back of knee, flex the knee It consists of three muscles as you can see.

Gastrocnemius – causes plantar flexion, helps you stand on toes  and walk in any direction.
