Plant cell organelles

.Cell Membrane; Thin layer that surrounds the cell. It provides structure and protection and it is semipermeable.

.Cytoplasm; The fluid in which the organelles are suspended. It maintains the pressure inside of the cell

.Mitochondria; Nicknamed the powerhouse of the cell because they provide energy for the cell. The site of cellular respiration.

.Endoplasmic Reticulum; smooth endoplasmic reticulum makes lipids(fats), modifies protein and transports them throughout the cell

.Golgi Body; Packages proteins and carbohydrates into vesicles for transport outside the cell.

6. Nucleus and Nucleous: control center of the cell that directs functions and contains DNA. The nucleus aids in the production of ribosomes.

.Rough er and Ribosomes; Rough endoplasmic reticulum has ribosomes bound to its membrane. Ribosomes are the site of protein synthesis.

.Cell wall; found only in plants cells, cell walls provide extra structure and protection for the cells internal structures.

.Central vacuole: Vacuoles provide storage for materials such as water. A plant cell's vacuole is larger than an animal's cell.

.Convert light energy from the sun into sugars that can be used for energy in a process called photosynthesis.
