Communities And Factors

Organism - A living thing

Habitat - a place for living, a place where an organism lives

Population - The amount of a single species living in a particular area

Community - groups of things living together in a habitat

Ecosystem - a self sustaining functioning area

Interdependent - When different species/organisms depend on each other to survive, grow and reproduce. If one is removed or becomes too populated, it can affect the whole community. E.g Animals eat plants, Plants produce food by photosynthesis.

Biotic Factors - Living factors that affect living organisms and therefore communities

  • Food availability

  • Predators

  • Human impact

  • Pathogens

Abiotic Factors - Nonliving factors that affect living organisms and therefore communities

  • Excess light/rain

  • Minerals lack/excess

  • Temperature

  • Moisture levels

  • Soil pH and mineral content

  • Wind

  • Co2 levels

  • Oxygen availability
