Untitled Flashcards Set

Basics of the Nervous System :

Has about 10 billion nerves cells

Carries electrical messages throughout the body

External & Internal receptors

Central Nervous system :

(CNS)

Brain & spinal card

Peripheral nervous system:

(PNS)

Cranial Nerves,Spinal nerves , Plexuses & peripheral nerves throughout the body

Cranial & spinal nerves carry both sensory & motor nevers & fibers which help the body through them respond to the changes & the world around it

Cranial & spinal nerves :

Have sensory nerves that carry message toward the brain

Sensory Nerves =carry message related to the change in the environment toward the spinal cord

Cranial & spinal nerves

-Motor nerves that carries message from the brain

Motor Nerves =Travel from the spinal cord & brain muscles of the body , telling them how to respond

The motor nerves are the ones that have the pain receptors in the skin . This is the reason you do not place your hand on the hot stove top for more than a second

Because your body has the motor nerves that tells the spinal cord instantly the stove top is hot , then the spinal cord activates the voluntary muscle to pull your hand away from the hot stove top so you do not  burn your skin

The spinal & cranial nerves  & peripheral nervous systems ( who functions are Voluntary that involve sensations of smell, taste, sight , hearing & muscle movements
