Environ/Socioeconomic impact and how it influences inequities

Features of the natural environment:

  • Poor urban planning= low health outcomes. However, cities with careful planning, such as zoning regulations, healthy transport systems, and greenspaces, can improve health outcomes.

Geographical location:

  • Some are more difficult in becoming healthy as remote and rural places are a long way from health services/experience extreme weather conditions.

Education:

  • Higher quality education opportunities more available in major cities or those who can pay for it. Several population find it harder to stay in education

Employment:

  • Low salary/low skilled jobs may be in less healthy enviro. = health inequity for workers/families

Income:

  • Higher income= families/indivs. Access healthier food and healthcare, services and products

Family;

  • Member health affects health of others such as anxiety/carer stress helping those sick or suffering

Housing/neighbourhood:

  • The role of concils and gov. In making safe/healthy neighbourhoods can be equitable.

Access to services:

  • Some services harder to access for those reyling on public transport/work late hrs. Can be disadvantaged.

Migration/refugee:

  • Not only discrimiination, but also overcome language barriers and may be unskilled/ even qualified ppl can be hard to find a job in their new country

Food insecurity:

  • Determined by food supply in a community, not all groups of ppl have the same access to these resources  or skill to use that food.
