SNAP Test Overview

  • Test type: Designed by Idexx

  • Purpose: Quick results for diagnosing various conditions in animals

  • Tests available:

    • Blood tests:

      • Heartworm

      • Tick-borne diseases

      • Feline leukemia (Felv) / Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV)

    • Fecal tests:

      • Internal parasites (e.g., Giardia)

      • Parvovirus

  • More common in veterinary practices with alternative laboratory tests also available.

Test Preparation

  • Step 1: Allow all components to equilibrate to room temperature for at least 30 minutes.

    • Note: Do not heat the components.

Sample Preparation

  • Step 2: Using a transfer pipette:

    • Hold vertically and dispense 3 drops of sample into a new sample tube.

  • Step 3: Add the conjugate:

    • Hold the bottle vertically, add 4 drops of conjugate to the sample tube.

  • Step 4: Mixing the sample:

    • Cap the sample tube and mix thoroughly by inverting it 3–5 times.

Testing Process

  • Step 5: Applying the sample:

    • Place the device on a horizontal surface.

    • Add the entire contents of the sample tube to the sample well, avoiding splashes.

    • The sample will flow across the result window, reaching the activation circle within 30–60 seconds.

  • Step 6: Activating the test:

    • When color first appears in the activation circle, push the activator firmly until it is flush with the device body.

Result Interpretation

  • Step 7: Reading results:

    • Wait 10 minutes from the time of activation to read the test results.

  • Follow up with SNAP Pro for:

    • Test result completion and interpretation.

    • After placing the sample in the well, the SNAP Pro will automatically snap the test and record the results once complete.
