Drama consists of several key elements:

  • Plot – The structure of the story (Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, Resolution).

  • Characters – The people or figures in the drama, including their personality traits and roles.

  • Theme – The main idea or message of the play.

  • Dialogue – Conversations between characters that help develop the plot.

  • Setting – Where and when the drama takes place.

  • Conflict – The struggle between characters or forces.

  • Audience – The group of people who watch the drama.

  • Mood & Atmosphere – The emotional tone created through dialogue, music, and setting.

  • Symbolism – Objects or figures representing deeper meanings (e.g., a crown symbolizes power).

  • Stage Directions – Instructions for movement, tone, or actions of characters.

2. Literary Devices in Drama
  • Monologue – A long speech by a single character.

  • Soliloquy – A speech delivered alone on stage, revealing inner thoughts.

  • Aside – A short comment to the audience that other characters don’t hear.

  • Dramatic Irony – When the audience knows something the characters do not.

  • Definition: Traditional stories passed down orally, often containing moral lessons.
