Primary intention: healing that occurs when a laceration or surgical incision is closed primarily with sutures

Secondary intention: when a great deal loss of tissue or is extensive and the edges can’t be brought together (pressure ulcer)

Tertiary intention: healing is delayed by primary closure occurs when there is a need to delay the wound closing process
