Introduction - the beginning of the story where everything (i.e characters, setting) are revealed.

Setting - The time and location the story takes place in. Setting also includes:

1. Place - geographical location

2. Time - time of day, month, period (etc.)

3. Weather conditions - rainy, sunny, etc

4. Social conditions - daily life - local colour (culture)

5. Mood or atmosphere - the feeling conveyed

   Theme - the controlling idea or central insight in a piece of fiction - the author’s underlying meaning or main idea being conveyed. Theme may be the author’s thoughts about a topic - or view of human nature
