what is whistle-blowing?

  • whistleblowing is when a worker reports suspected wrongdoing at work

  • officially called ‘making a disclosure in the public interest’

  • a worker can report things that aren’t right/legal/neglection, eg:

    • health n safety violations

    • environmental damage

    • criminal offences

    • law disobedience eg incorrect insurance

    • covering up wrongdoing

the ethics of whistle-blowing:

  • employees have a legal responsibility to report unethical behaviour coz of likelihood of this behaviour being criminal » code of conduct

NHS whistle-blowing scandal:
