Project Guidelines

  • Advocating Different Perspectives

    • The project aims to not only read and reflect but to take actionable steps in understanding Aboriginal perspectives.

    • Students are encouraged to engage with a range of cultural expressions, such as music or visual art.

Engaging with Art and Culture

  • Art Interpretation

    • Explore an attitude piece of art in a gallery or a significant landmark in locations such as Port Adelaide, Adelaide Hills, or Moriota.

    • The importance of choosing art that genuinely reflects Aboriginal perspectives is emphasized.

  • Cultural Artifacts

    • Suggestion to analyze existing art pieces or maps found in museums related to Aboriginal culture.

    • Understanding art as a medium to connect with cultural narratives.

Conceptual Framework

  • Connecting Epistemology to Law

    • Students are encouraged to explore personal confusion about the relationship between cultural knowledge (epistemology) and legal principles to foster deeper understanding.

  • Artistic Examples

    • Use specific examples like an abstract landscape painting that connects with broader discourses on sovereignty.

    • Openness to a variety of topics, including discussions by figures like Noel Pearson related to law or societal issues expressed through music (e.g., Baker Boy).

Project Execution

  • Choosing a Focus

    • Students are advised to commit to a topic instead of lingering in uncertainty.

    • Encourage a decisive approach to project selection based on personal interest and energy levels.

  • Resource Organization

    • Option to write directly on a provided template or create a new document based on the template's insights.

    • Maintain flexibility in either copying content or drafting original pieces while retaining the essence of the assignment.

Submission Guidelines

  • Document Requirements

    • Final submission must be in Word document format.

    • All submissions will undergo an integrity check for originality.

  • Academic Integrity

    • Emphasis on the importance of honesty in submissions as part of becoming a trustworthy professional.

    • Using AI tools for assignments could result in serious academic consequences.

Reflection on Accountability

  • Personal Integrity and Professionalism

    • Students are reminded of the investment and ethical obligations connected to their educational journey in law.

    • Encouragement to be genuine and reflective in their work as it aligns with their aspiration of becoming honest lawyers.
