P1 & P2 Triple Content Exam Qs notes

Why? —-
The perpendicular distance from the pivot to the man is 1.2, 3 times that of the perpendicular distance from the pivot to the load.
Therefore, the effort needed is 3 times less of the load (300/3)

Why? —-
Two 50 N forces act on the left(anticlockwise) of the pivot.
Their distances from the pivot are 0.5 m and 0.3 m.
Anticlockwise moment= (50×0.5) + (50×0.3)
25+15= 40 Nm

Keywords:
more/less dense
altitude(not height)

pressure must be at zero when max altitude is reached
falls exponentially(curved)
must start at max pressure at zero altitude

1) Child A is going with the cycle to the left, meaning he is going anti-clockwise (you can tell when full circle is drawn). Child B is going clockwise as he is opposite to Child A.
clockwise = 2 × 400 = 800 l anti-clockwise = 2 × 500 = 1000
2) Child A is going anti-clockwise. The current force being exerted is 800N.
(rearrange equation)
moment = distance * force » distance = moment / force
800 (the moment of A) / 500 (the load of A) = 1.6m
