In English there are definite and indefinite articles. “Articles” is just a fancy word for “the” as well as “an/a.” It’s something we all use anyway. We are not used to thinking about it.

A definite article is a very specific thing. An indefinite article is something that could be one of many things.

We have to pay attention to feminine, masculine, singular, and plural when we speak in Spanish. It sounds harder than it is. Here’s a chart:
