Review
How did the columbian exchange both benefit and harm europeans and native americans?
Native americans were heavily harmed by europeans because of the amount of diseases they brought into the americas and their lack of personal hygiene contributing to such, along with this, the later emersion of social darwinism/racism being traded through to north america paid a harder price onto them as it “justified” the abhorrent acts of both the past and the present. Europeans also had syphilis spread onto them in bigger numbers because again, their lack of personal hygiene. The only real benefits they got were vegetables/crops/fruits and other food items being traded between the continents.
Native Americans: Vulnerable
Indigenous peoples were in smaller societies, and for them to see someone who was more “advanced” in technology within them, they were astonished and trustful of europeans as a psychological response.
In north america, there was no concept of land ownership
Disunion between tribes, no strict political structure (north america)
Iroquois are always the exception in these stories
