Body Planes
Body planes - imaginary vertical and horizontal lines used to divide the body into sections for descriptive purposes
Sagittal Plane - line divides left and right sides
Mid-Sagittal Plane - line divides left and right sides down the middle of your body
Frontal Plane - line divides the front and the back
Transverse Plane - line divides the top and bottom
Functions - Muscle actions are described as departures from the standard position of the body, the anatomical position. Some of these actions are general, and can be applied to several regions of the body, while others are quite specific to a single region or even a single joint.
