Application Timeline & Submission
• Semester 1 LPN grades at Davis Tech post ≈ late Aug / first week of Sept (after Labor Day).
• DO NOT click “Submit” on the Nursing Application until that transcript is in hand.
– You may: create the application, fill every field, upload other documents, and even pay the fee.
– Once “Submit” is clicked the file is locked; only Rod can reopen it—and he will not do that 43 times.
• 13-day submission window: roughly \text{Sept}\,02\text{–Sept}\,15.
• Absolute deadline: Sept 15 @ 11:59 p.m. (MT).
• Admission decision e-mails go out in October; you will accept the seat via a Google Sheet (W-number required).
Prerequisites & GPA Standards
• Mandatory prerequisites (must be finished or in-progress with completion by Dec 29):
– Anatomy
– Physiology
– Chemistry w/ lab
– Math (Quantitative Literacy)
– English 1010 (composition)
– Psychology or Human Development.
• All prerequisite courses may be in progress during Fall; final grade due \le Dec 29.
• Cumulative GPA requirement at application time:
\text{Overall GPA}\;\ge\;3.000
Funding cutoff actually occurs at 2.995 (third decimal place).
• State only counts coursework from the last 6 years when calculating prerequisite GPA.
Transcripts & Documentation
• Upload every collegiate transcript—Weber State, Davis Tech, any other regionally accredited institution.
• Unofficial PDFs accepted for the application; official copies go later to WSU Admissions.
• PDF creation trick: on the unofficial portal choose “Print” → change printer to “Save as PDF”.
• NO phone‐camera images.
• Include your first-semester LPN transcript from Davis Tech.
• Upload a CAT-TRAX “What If” audit PDF (shows where each course applies).
• Only items inside the application packet are reviewed; “Weber already has it” ≠ acceptable.
CAT TRAX & Degree Audit (How-To)
• Log into CAT TRAX → select “What If”.
• Program: Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Catalog Year: 2025\text{–}2026.
• Hit “Process What If” to see how current credits map.
• Save/print as PDF and attach to the application.
• Repeat with “Bachelor of Science in Nursing” to view upper-division totals.
Weber Admission vs. Nursing Application
• Nursing application link (long URL) was e-mailed by Renee.
• You ALSO must be admitted to Weber State (obtain W-number) within the next 2 weeks so you can:
– enter W-number on the nursing form,
– accept your spot in October,
– register for classes in December.
• Failure to secure Weber admission delays registration & lab placement.
Degree Paths
• Minimum credential from this bridge = AAS (Nursing).
– 6 prereqs
– 2 additional Gen-Eds: 2nd-English & 1 Humanities/Creative Arts
– 20 hrs LPN-to-RN core.
• Full AS degree (if you lack any prior degree) adds:
– American Institutions
– The opposite Humanities/Creative Arts category
– Cultural Competence requirement.
• Already have AA/AS/BS/MS or GE “passport”? Those Gen-Ed boxes auto-clear; focus only on prereqs.
Advisement & Contact
• Primary adviser: Rod K. Ronald (e-mail on slides: e98@weber.edu).
• Seek advising now through August—not on Sept 15.
• When e-mailing include:
– Full name
– W-number
– Intended start term (Jan 20XX)
– Specific questions (AAS audit, AS/BSN planning, missing prereqs, etc.).
• Rod will continue as adviser once you enter the program—semesterly check-ins.
LPN → RN Program Structure (Spring & Summer)
• 21 hrs of LPN credit from Davis Tech articulate to WSU once December grades post (WSU students only get 18 hrs—bonus 3 hrs for you!).
• Core RN courses (Spring + Summer):
– NURS 2500
– NURS 2551
– NURS 3100
– NURS 3200
– NURS 3360
• Those five deliver 12.5 upper-division credits (3000-level).
• Dosage-calculation & math tests occur early; read material and you will pass.
NCLEX-PN Requirement
• You have until \text{Apr 24 (end of Spring)} to pass the NCLEX-PN.
• Upload proof of licensure; mandatory for Summer progression.
• Take the exam early; if you fail you still have time for a re-take.
BSN Continuation (100 % Online)
• 25 hrs of BSN nursing coursework; can be completed in 2 – 9 semesters starting the following August.
• Curriculum is writing-heavy (papers, group forums)—no proctored tests.
• Advantage: pay Weber in-state tuition even if you relocate during the curriculum.
• Delay = loss of in-state tuition; if you move first and re-contact later, you’ll be referred to a local BSN.
Upper-Division Credit Math
• Requirement to graduate BSN: 40\;\text{upper-division hrs} + 120\;\text{total hrs}.
• Your path:
– RN program = 12.5
– BSN core = 25
– Upper-division elective = 3
12.5 + 25 + 3 = 40.5
• If you already hold \ge 3 upper-division hrs (calc, 3000-level minor, etc.), elective may be waived.
• Confirm via CAT-TRAX “What If → BSN”.
Practical Tips & Common Errors to Avoid
• Read every e-mail from Allison Kay (admin) and Rod—do not depend on classmates.
• Double-check GPA; many applicants receive “unqualified” letters because they assumed instead of verifying.
• Combined A&P courses from other Utah schools are accepted; enter separate grades.
• On in-progress courses, list grade as “EN FALL 25” (or similar).
• Humanities/Creative Arts: must have one of each for the AS; for AAS need only one total.
• Upper-division elective can be taken any semester (not part of BSN curriculum).
• Never upload screenshots or photographs—only PDFs.
• Do not attempt to register for BSN-specific nursing courses before completion of the RN bridge.
Example Q&A Highlights
• Q: “If I meet DTC’s 3.0 GPA, does that guarantee eligibility here?”
A: Not necessarily; Weber recalculates on last 6 yrs only. Verify.
• Q: “A&P is combined at my college—acceptable?”
A: Yes; enter as equivalents to ZOOL 2320 & 2420 (or HTHS 1110/1111).
• Q: “Do transcripts have to be official?”
A: Unofficial for application; official later for Weber Admissions.
• Q: “Can we do BSN courses early?”
