Holy Spirit & Pentecost Lecture Notes Flashcards
Pentecost and the Biblical Events
Historical Context of Pentecost: Pentecost was a Jewish feast celebrated in the city of Jerusalem. During this specific celebration, the Apostles gathered and were filled with the Holy Spirit.
The Descent of the Spirit: During the event of Pentecost, tongues of fire appeared above the Apostles, signifying the presence of the Holy Spirit.
The Miracle of Tongues: Upon being filled with the Spirit, the Apostles began speaking in different languages. This caused the people in Jerusalem to be amazed, as they could hear the Apostles speaking and understood them in their own native languages.
