Adam Smith The Results of Colonization (1776)

  • The main point= Was colonization good? What was good about colonization?

    • Good

      • colonialization enhanced global trade by bring luxuries and necessaities to one part of the world to the other

      • things that grew in America , tobbaco and sugar, were highly sought after in Europe, leading to increased economic interdependence and investment opportunities.

      • gained new markets to sell the products

      • supplying the calories to the worlds

      • to spread goods around the world

      • produce raw materials

      • Colonization was a good thing

      • To the natives, colonization brought genocide to the native americans and rapid dieases spreading throughout there population

        • people in america werent exposed to these dieases before

  • Adam smith had hindsight of centuries of how colonization happened and worked out

  • It is 1776, the year declaration of independence, and the American Revolution is happening when a bunch of pivtol moments were happening

  • They enslaved the Native Americans and made them work in gold mines and labor force where all this gold and silver was shipped back to spain being stolen from the new world

  • this is very shameful, animals were treated better than the Native Americans which is crazy because we eat animals not humans therefore humans should be respected more

    • describing the “Christainity” that the spaniards gave the Indians, trying the shame the Spainards by highlighting the stark contrast between their professed values and their brutal actions against the Indigenous populations, emphasizing that the true essence of Christianity promotes compassion, respect, and dignity for all human beings.

    • Christains don’t treat people like this, they don’t leave them to die or strave them or bet them

  • trying to shame them into better behavior and showing them what is actually happening, trying to make them care

  • The argument of the phone is just as much a globalization arguement then as a colonization argument
