       Proximal - close to the point of origin

       Distal –distant from the point of origin

       Medial - Toward the midline

       Contralateral - On the opposite side of the body

       Ipsilateral - On the same side of the body

       Coronal plane (or frontal plane) - plane that shows brain structures from the front

       Sagittal plane- A plane that shows brain structures from the side

       Horizontal plane (or transverse plane)- A plane that shows brain structures from above
