port main panel (pilot)

critical instruments

  • air speed indicator - air speed relative to surrounding air. measured in knots

  • artificial horizon - also known as the attitude indicator or the gyro horizon. aircraft orientation relative to the earth’s horizon

  • altitude indicator - also known as altimeter. aircraft altitude relative to sea level

  • zero-reader indicator - a type of flight direction system. provides a clear graphical representation of flight path in case of low visibility in poor conditions

  • direction indicator - also known as the heading indicator or directional gyro. gives an aircraft’s heading on a compass

non-critical instruments

  • ILS / VOR indicator - instrument landing system - precision radio navigation system providing short range guidance to aircraft to allow them to approach a runway when in low visibility. very high frequency omnidirectional range station - type of VHF (very high frequency) navigational aid, giving an aircraft’s position relative to a ground VOR station

  • turn and slip indicator - two instruments (turn and slip) in one device, showing rate of turn (rate of change in aircraft’s heading), and whether the aircraft is in coordinated flight (showing slip or skid of turn)

  • radio magnetic indicator - ADF (automatic direction finder) showing relative angle of transmitter relative to the aircraft

  • auto-pilot pressure gauge -

  • elapsed time clock - its a clock u fucking idiot

  • rate of climb - vertical speed at which an aircraft ascends

  • omni-bearing selector - knob allowing the selection of the radial (course) you wish to track from a VOR ground station

port centre panel

  • PPI (weather radar) - plan position indicator. shows aircraft distance and height above ground drawn as concentric circles

  • auto pilot / zero reader controller / indicator -

  • zero reader selector control unit - selects the zero reading

  • fuel contents - self explanatory

  • fuel trim indicator - adjustments made by the ECU (engine control unit) to the fuel mixture in order to maintain an optimal air / fuel ratio

  • fuel datum position computer - fuel position relative to the datum (a reference line serving as the baseline from which all other measurements on an aircraft are taken)

  • fuel contents indicator - aircraft fuel

  • water / methanol contents indicator - used in fuel systems as additives

starboard centre main panel

some are duplicated due to the two engines on the aircraft

critical instruments

  • TGT indicators x2 - turbine gas temperature. max temperature of gases exiting the turbine, critical for performance and efficiency of gas turbine engines

  • RPM indicators x2 - revolutions per minute. rotational speed of an aircraft engine’s crankshaft

  • turbine gas temperature indicators x2 -

  • oil pressure indicators x2 - oil circulated through the engine to lubricate moving parts

  • oil temperature x2 - if the oil temp is at its maximum or above, then the engine could be damaged

  • fuel flowmetres x2 - the speed at which fuel is flowing in the engine

non-critical instruments

  • outside air temperature indicator - self explanatory

  • cabin height indicator - pressure level in the cabin to assume ground atmosphere

  • cabin differential pressure indicator - pressure difference between the inside and outside of the cabin

  • landing gear position indicator - status of landing gear

  • flowmetre resets x2 -

starboard main panel (co-pilot)

mirror image of the pilot’s main panel

  • PTT button - press to transmit. radio has to be tuned to receiver frequency. when pressed it cuts out other transmissions

hand control pedestal

  • flying control lock lever - also known as a gust lock. prevents random movements when on ground (caused by wind, jet blast, or propeller wash) to protect control surfaces on an aircraft from damage

  • throttle friction damper lever - varies the tension placed on the throttle lever to make it looser (more sensitive to movement) or stiffer (to keep position)

  • parking brake - brakes

  • throttle levers port and starboard - throttle for each engine

  • flaps emergency selector switch - a way of lowering the flaps in case of electrical of hydraulic power failure

  • elevator trim wheel - holds elevators in a specific position without manual input

  • propeller ground fine pitch lever -

  • fuel high pressure cock levers -

  • landing gear emergency selector -

  • fuel trim selector - selects the fuel mixture in order to maintain an optimal air / fuel ratio

  • elevator trim selector - selectors elevator trim

  • flap normal selector -

  • rudder trim wheel and indicator - holds rudders in a specific position without manual input
