Ser vs. Estar

• Ser: To be (permanent characteristics)

• Estar: To be (temporary states/locations)

Making Sentences Negative

• Add "no" between the subjective pronoun and the verb.

  • Example: Yo no tengo una teléfona (I don't have a telephone).

Gustar (To Like)

• A mí me gusta + [singular noun] (I like [singular noun])

  • Example: A mi me gusta el arroz (I like rice).

• A mí me gustan + [plural noun] (I like [plural noun])

  • Example: A mi me gustan las verduras (I like vegetables).

• A mí me gusta + [action verb] + [noun] (I like to [action verb] [noun])

  • If there is an action verb before the noun, "gustar" will always be "gusta".

  • Example: A mi me gusta comer el arroz (I like to eat rice).

  • Example: A mi me gusta comer las verduras (I like to eat vegetables).

• Hacer (irregular "yo" form): Yo hago
