Lecture 1

Generalisation: Analysing multiple works about the speech processes and coming up with a judgment based on all of them

  • making a judgement based on analysing literature that suggests similar conclusions (bullshit)

Reduction: Trying to understand the process of speech through analysing muscle movements, brain activity, etc.

  • trying to understand the concept by reducing it into small parts

Mind-Body Problem:

Is the mind in control of the nervous system, or is the part of the nervous system?

Rubber Hand Illusion: complex relationship between the mind and the body

Dualism: body is physical, mind is not

Monism: mind produced by the nervous system (adopted by neuroscientists)
