Salvation - being saved, belief that through gods grace, Jesus’ death and resurection brough about salvation for humanity. saving of the soul and being able to enter eternal life in heaven.
Ascention - Going or being taken up; the event forty days after the resurrection when jesus returned to glory in heaven.
Atonement - making ammends or payment for a wrong. The belief that reconcilliation between god and humanity that was brought about by the death of jesus as a sacrafice.
Baptism - The sacrament through which people become members of the church. It involves the use of water as a symbol of washing away of sin
Grace - The unconditional and generous love that God shows to people who do not deserve it
Incarnation - Literally “in flesh” the belief that god took human form as jesus
Law - Rules or commandments which must be followed, the law of god was revealed in the bible
Omnipotent- The belief that god is all powerful
Monotheism - Belief in one god
Omnibenevolent - the belief that god is all loving
Just - the belief that god is fair
Inconsistant triad - The problem of evil, difficult to accept the nature of god and the existance of evil and sufferinging the world.
St augustine - A theoligist who tried to resolve the probem of evil, this is due to the fact that humans have free will
Creation ex nihilo - god creating the world from nothing
Fundementalist - Literal, also known as literalists, they believe the story of creation is literally how it happened
Liberal - They believe that the bible can be meatphorical and the creation story is not literal
