Three Stages of History

  1. Pre-Foundation Period (1944–1953)

    • Served as “doctor to the barrio,” prioritizing service to the poor over career advancement.

    • Realized healthcare alone was limited → idea to “multiply themselves” through education.

  2. Foundation (1965–1974)

    • Built clinics in Malasiqui (later hospital) and near UST (later hospital + College of Nursing).

    • Established Perpetual Help College – Manila (1968) and Malasiqui campus (1970).

  3. Satelliting Period (1973–Present)

    • Perpetual Help College of Laguna (1976) to bring education & healthcare to less urbanized areas.

    • UPHS Charter granted by CHED on April 20, 1997 (10th death anniversary of Dra. Josefina).
