The Solar System Overview
The solar system consists of the Sun (a star at the center) and all objects held in its orbit by gravity, including eight planets, moons, asteroids, and comets.
The Eight Planets (In order from the Sun)
Mercury: The smallest planet and the fastest to orbit the Sun.
Venus: The hottest planet with a very thick atmosphere.
Earth: Our home; the only known planet that supports life.
Mars: Known as the "Red Planet".
Jupiter: The largest planet, mostly made of gas.
Saturn: Famous for its large, visible rings made of ice and rock.
Uranus: An "ice giant" that rotates on its side.
Neptune: The most distant and windiest planet.
